Terms and Conditions

Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to work carried out by AJ Marine & Solar. Your quotation or booking confirmation explains the work and price; together with these terms, it forms our agreement with you. Accepting the quotation or confirming the booking means you accept these terms.

1 Quotes and bookings

1.1 Quotes are based on the information available at the time and remain valid for the period shown. A booking is confirmed when you accept it in writing and pay any requested deposit, materials payment or travel charge.

1.2 Please check that the vessel details, location, access information, equipment and scope are correct. Tell us promptly if anything changes.

1.3 Marine work can uncover damaged wiring, corrosion, water ingress, unsafe previous work or other hidden

issues. If this happens, we will explain the problem and agree any significant additional work and cost with you

before continuing.

2 Location and access

2.1 You must give us the exact location of the boat and accurate access information before we travel. This includes

the marina, mooring, berth or pontoon; parking arrangements; gate codes, permits or security requirements;

and any height, width, weight or time restrictions.

2.2 You must check whether our service vehicle can reach and park reasonably close to the boat. Tell us about

pontoons, towpaths, steps, steep or uneven ground, ferries, locked access, restricted bridges, long carrying

distances or anything else that may affect moving tools, batteries, panels or other materials safely. Where

relevant, you should confirm the arrangements directly with the marina or mooring operator.

2.3 If the boat moves or the access arrangements change, you must tell us before we set off. You are also

responsible for obtaining any permission required from the boat owner, marina, mooring operator or navigation

authority.

2.4 We may stop or refuse attendance if the access is materially different from what we were told, or if it is unsafe,

unlawful or impractical for the work and equipment involved.

3 Changes to access and planned visits

3.1 If we are unable to start or complete a visit because the location or access details have changed, agreed access

is unavailable or a required permission has not been arranged, we may need to charge for reasonable costs

already incurred. These may include travel and mileage, working time reserved for the visit that we cannot

reasonably rebook, accommodation, parking, tolls, marina or ferry charges, and delivery or return costs.

3.2 We will always take reasonable steps to minimise these costs and will deduct anything we save or any working

time we are able to reallocate. No charge will apply where the access issue was caused by us or was

something we reasonably should have identified from the information provided.

4 Remote jobs and payment

4.1 A remote job is one identified as remote in the quotation or booking confirmation because of its distance, journey

time, access requirements or need for an overnight stay.

4.2 The remaining balance for a remote job is payable immediately when the work or agreed attendance is

completed and before our engineer leaves the site, unless we have agreed different payment terms in writing.

4.3 For other work, payment is due as stated on the quotation or invoice. Please raise any genuine invoice query

promptly and pay any undisputed amount when due. We may pause further work while an overdue payment

remains outstanding.

5 Cancellations and delays

5.1 If you cancel or rearrange after we have incurred costs or reserved time that we cannot reasonably rebook, we

may charge our reasonable net loss. This may include work already completed, non-returnable or special-order

goods, supplier charges and lost working time, less costs saved

5.2 For consumer bookings made by phone, email, online or away from our business premises, you may have a

legal 14-day cancellation right. If you ask us to begin within that period and later cancel, you may need to pay a

proportionate amount for work already supplied. Your statutory rights are not affected.

5.3 Dates and arrival times are agreed in good faith but may be affected by traffic, weather, navigation, supply

delays, emergencies or earlier marine work. We will let you know about any significant delay as soon as

reasonably possible.

6 The work and your responsibilities

6.1 We will carry out the agreed work with reasonable care and skill. You must give us safe access to the vessel,

relevant compartments and isolators, and tell us about known faults, hazards or previous alterations. Children,

animals and other people must be kept safely away from the work area.

6.2 You must be at the boat on the first day of work and available to make decisions and help resolve any access or

installation issues as they arise. You must also attend the final handover in person so we can explain the

system and answer your questions. Please tell us in advance if you cannot attend so we can agree alternative

arrangements before the visit.

6.3 Performance estimates for solar, batteries and off-grid systems depend on weather, shading, season, power

use, battery condition and how the vessel is used. They are estimates unless we expressly guarantee a

particular result in writing.

6.4 We only install equipment and materials supplied by AJ Marine & Solar. We do not fit customer-supplied

equipment. This allows us to confirm compatibility, quality and warranty arrangements for the complete

installation.

7 Faults warranties and legal rights

7.1 Please tell us promptly if you believe there is a fault with our work or equipment we supplied, and allow us a

reasonable opportunity to inspect it and put it right where appropriate.

7.2 Manufacturer warranties are subject to the manufacturer’s terms. Any workmanship guarantee stated in your

quotation is additional to your legal rights.

7.3 Nothing in these terms removes or limits rights that cannot legally be excluded, including a consumer’s right to

goods of satisfactory quality and services carried out with reasonable care and skill. We are responsible for

foreseeable loss caused by our breach, but not for loss caused by inaccurate information, unsafe conditions,

misuse or unauthorised alterations by somebody else.

8 Contact and agreement

8.1 Questions, cancellations or concerns should be sent using the contact details on your quotation or invoice.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

8.2 By accepting the quotation or confirming the booking, you confirm that the information you have supplied about

the boat, its location and access is accurate, and that you accept these terms.
